Q4 2020 Social Networking App Performance on iOS in the UK

In the fourth quarter of 2020, the social networking scene on the iOS platform in the United Kingdom saw varying performances among the top applications. Data provided by Sensor Tower offers a glance at the key trends for these apps in terms of downloads and active users.

WhatsApp Messenger observed a steady climb in downloads, starting at 122K in late September and peaking at 208K in the week of December 21st. Weekly active users fluctuated slightly but ended the quarter on a high with 28M users.

Facebook also demonstrated growth in downloads, reaching a high of 124K in the week leading up to Christmas. Revenue trends showed an upward trajectory, culminating in $106K in the same festive week. The app's weekly active users remained robust, hovering around the 18M mark throughout the quarter.

Messenger, with no reported revenue, experienced a rise in downloads during the quarter, notably jumping to 113K in the week before Christmas. Its weekly active users saw a peak of 12M in the third week of December.

Discord - Chat, Talk & Hangout saw a rise in revenue, reaching $68K in late December, with downloads also peaking at 64K in the same period. The platform's active user base increased over the quarter, finishing at 1.6M.

Finally, Houseparty experienced its highest revenue of $390 in the final week of December, alongside a surge in downloads to 63K in the week before Christmas. The app's weekly active users showed a positive trend, rising to 227K at the end of the quarter.
